The Steering Committee has identified the purposes of ExTA as:
- to promote and contribute to the safety of personnel and property related to explosive environments;
- to act as an industry body to interface with other bodies and other statutory authorities related to explosion safety; and
- to manage Schemes for the certification of equipment, services and personnel related to explosion protection.
ExTA is proposed as a not-for-profit incorporated association, governed by a committee comprised of leading hazardous area industry stakeholders.
